FLSCo nominations
-
So, as runa, and couf have already mentioned, we’re having an election for the first Fedora Localization Steering Committee (FLSCo). Yay for democracy!
Looking at the nominations page for FLSCo, one can tell that some very active folks in the FLP are being shy in applying. And since this is something probably common among steering committees, I’ll write these thoughts in a blog post as well.
A core purpose of a Steering Committee is to guarantee that the people who decide for the future of the Project aren’t random ones, or those who just happened to be present at an IRC meeting. The Steering Committee members are ordinary people who the rest of the community believes they have a good understanding for what’s good for the Project and trusts their judgment to take decisions for the whole community. In the next meeting, when you, with the community’s stamp of approval, will chip in your”+1″ for an issue, it’s less that you will feel better doing it; it’s more that the community will feel better about it.
I want to trust the project’s future in the hands of people who’s name is all over the place in the past
