Fedora on Greek media
-
At last, some free time to blog a bit about some recent happenings of Fedora in Greece, with some emphasis on Greek media.
I’ve already talked about Athens Digital Week (english translation), which received quite some media love. Mini-newspapers describing the event were distributed in central Athens squares, which featured an article about open source and showcasing Fedora’s presence: Max Spevack’s keynote and my presentation on a panel about Online communities. We distributed 800 flyers, 250 CDs, 1500 stickers, and 10.000 mini-newspapers (a warm thanks to our sponsors).
On Thursday I was invited on “Skai 100,3″, a popular radio station broadcasting in Athens. We discussed for some minutes about Fedora, Live media, and the Greek Fedora team providing support to users who might need it. Overall a nice discussion, which caused a small surge of email in my inbox about questions on how to install Fedora. Here’s an audiotape link (in Greek, discussion at minutes 10:50-18:00).
Finally, a few days ago we filmed a Greek TV show called “Digital Greece”, which promotes new technologies to the masses using simple, non-geek jargon. It is broadcasted on the National TV channel “ET-1″ on 6pm on Mondays. I was invited to talk about Fedora and its Greek guys and we also talked a bit about Transifex.
I just received a video of the part of the show together with English subtitles, so here’s it.
